Pioneers of constructed wetlands in France

Since 2007, Aquatiris has been designing and developing nature-based solutions for ecological wastewater treatment and sustainable water management. Our mission is to support private individuals, businesses and local authorities in adopting more environmentally friendly solutions, whilst ensuring efficiency, sustainability and ease of use.

As pioneers of phytoremediation in France, we have helped raise awareness of this eco-friendly alternative to conventional sewage treatment systems. Today, more than 25,000 Aquatiris systems across France are contributing to more responsible wastewater management.

A story born of a conviction

The story of Aquatiris began in 2003 with a fateful meeting.

Whilst building an eco-friendly house, Edwige Le Douarin was looking for a wastewater treatment solution that aligned with her environmental convictions. She met Martin Werckmann, a specialist in wastewater treatment using reed beds for local authorities. Together, they devised a solution tailored to private households: the first ‘Jardin d’Assainissement’ (Wastewater Treatment Garden).

Four years later, Aquatiris was founded with a strong ambition: to make eco-friendly wastewater treatment, inspired by natural processes, accessible to as many people as possible. Since then, the company has continued to innovate and develop nature-based solutions to address water-related challenges.

The first national network specialising in phytoremediation

We have made a bold choice: to combine the strength of a national network with the local support of regional experts.

Today, Aquatiris relies on more than 65 franchises and over 200 approved installers spread across the whole of France. Each expert supports their clients from the site survey right through to the completion of the work and the monitoring of their installation.

This unique model ensures a high level of expertise, whilst taking local specificities into account.
